To make Wisdom™ right, we opened our own plant (we call it a “craftory”) in the heart of Maryland farmland. Then we hired a team of like-minded experts in animal science, and handcrafted Wisdom™ to ensure absolute control over quality.
Riverstone was built using the most sustainable set-up in terms of water, waste, and energy. And, since opening, we’ve implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) that’s aimed at increasing transparency into the sustainability structure, reducing environmental impacts, and increasing operational efficiency.
At Riverstone, we’ve planted a community garden, use a custom-designed dehydrator to collect cooked fat and grease for other companies to re-purpose for applications like soaps and biodiesel, and have a zero food waste policy. Sustainability is at our core, and it shows at Riverstone.
One of our Virginia poultry farmers, David Hughes, takes pride in his work, and that means we can take pride in ours. In 2016, David embraced solar power to 100% run his farm. As a green alternative to fossil fuels, solar power has zero byproducts or pollutants, which makes solar systems ideal for keeping livestock comfortable and healthy.
Producing 172 kilowatts of energy creates a positive environmental impact of over 168 tons of offset CO2, 355 barrels of unused oil, and nearly 4,000 trees saved.
