International Women’s Day
In 1977, the United Nations first officially recognized International Women’s Day, and for forty-five years, countries around the world have celebrated the many achievements and contributions of women. At Earth Animal, we are proud to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8 by recognizing four amazing female members of our leadership team: our co-founder, Susan Goldstein, our Chief Marketing Officer, Stephanie Volo, and our Head of People, Elizabeth Wade.
Susan Goldstein, Co-Founder
The winner of Pet Age Magazine’s 2017 Women of Influence Award and Pet Age Magazine’s 2018 Women of Influence – Lifetime Achievement Award, Susan Goldstein has been a pioneer and a leader in the natural pet food and product movement for more than 40 years. She put her life-long passion for animal well-being to work back in the 1970s, founding both the Earth Animal retail store and the Healing Center for Animals, and, as an animal rights activist, she has advocated for the health, well-being, and protection of animals since the 1980s. Her work today continues to focus on raising awareness to end factory farming of animals and stopping the use of toxic chemicals in insecticides and pesticides on dogs and cats. Additionally, Susan specializes in emotional healing and grief counseling after the loss of an animal companion and is an expert in alternative cancer therapies for animals. As the heart and soul of Earth Animal, we wouldn’t be here today without Susan’s passion, dedication, and leadership.
Stephanie Volo, Chief Marketing Officer
Our Chief Marketing Officer, Stephanie Volo, began her career in the pet industry as Director of Sales and Marketing and CEO of Planet Dog, a company that makes eco-friendly and durable dog toys. She spent 15 years growing that company and working for meaningful change for pets, people, communities, and the planet. A proven leader with a special talent for brand building and relationship cultivation, as well as a keen eye for product design, packaging, and merchandising, Stephie was a terrific addition to the Earth Animal team in 2017. Her work leading the company’s marketing strategy, including managing and implementing all marketing and communications efforts, has expanded Earth Animal’s profile both at tradeshows and throughout the industry at large, and she has driven the development of Earth Animal’s brand authenticity and sustainability promise.
Founding member and current Chairwoman of the Pet Sustainability Coalition, Stephie is one of the most well-respected leaders in the pet industry. She strives every day to advance integrity, transparency, and sustainability throughout the industry, and Earth Animal is lucky to have her on our team.
Elizabeth Wade, Head of People
Our Head of People, Elizabeth Wade, came to us with more than 15 years of experience in marketing and human relations at top Media and Marketing firms. At Earth Animal, Elizabeth joins that experience with vast enthusiasm and leadership skills to develop, evaluate, and implement people strategies, talent development, and engagement. She is a driving force behind our diversity and belonging initiatives and works hard to implement Earth Animal’s mission of inclusivity.
When not busy making Earth Animal an awesome place to work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and two Labradors adopted from Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
