Read about the Basics of B Corp.

Welcome to B Corp Month!

We bet you’re wondering what this campaign is all about, and we can’t wait to tell you! But before we get into that, it’s probably a good idea to first explain what a Certified B Corporation is and why it should matter to you.

What is a Certified B Corporation?

A Certified B Corp is a for-profit business that values the Earth and all her animals, as much as profits. Certified B Corps are a community on a mission to harness and use their businesses to positively benefit all stakeholders, to solve economic, social, and environmental disparity and injustice, and to create a thriving planet and prosperous future for all of us!

What is B Corp Certification?

B Corp Certification is an assessment and designation for businesses to go through and achieve that measure their entire social and environmental impact. It means they meet high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency while ensuring continuous improvement in making the world a better place for all and the Earth that sustains us. Achieving B Corp Certification means an obligation to use business as a force for good.

What does the B stand for?

B = Benefit for All. Look for the B Corp logo everywhere you shop!

Who are the Certified B Corps?

In addition to Earth Animal, there are about 6,000 Certified B Corps worldwide that range in size from very small to very large, in 87 countries, and across 159 industries – all with 1 unifying goal: to reimagine and transform the role of business to benefit all. Some well-known Certified B Corps are Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, Seventh Generation, Athleta, and many, many more. Pet parents can look up any Certified B Corp and verify their impact rating.

Why Certified B Corps Matter?

B Corp Certification holds our feet to the fire and ensures we back up words with meaningful actions. It means we are committed to accountability and transparency and have an obligation to continue to achieve high standards of verified social and environmental performance. It means we operate as a force for good in all we do.

Why should you care about supporting Certified B Corps?

Certified B Corps go beyond business as usual and have chosen a more impactful path. They demonstrate what is possible when they think beyond profit. When they go beyond what is expected and when they come together to prove beyond a doubt that there is a better way to do business that benefits all.

Here’s our why:

We are called Earth Animal for a reason. And years ago, Dr. Bob, our co-founder, took an oath to cause no harm and that has been foundational to our company.

Since 1979, we have been doing things another way for pets, their parents, and the planet they play on – going beyond the easy way to do it a better way.

We go beyond helping by providing ways to thrive.

We go beyond sustaining by seeking to strengthen.

We go beyond making a profit by making life the best it can for animals, people, and the Earth.
