Our why

Every decision we make has a reason behind it— an underlying motivation that pushes us towards our greatest goals. A passionate purpose that motivates our actions and the products we offer.

At Earth Animal, our why is our mission and our reason for being: to pioneer a more holistic, humane, and sustainable way of enhancing and preserving quality of life for animals, people, and the Earth. We call this Another Way®.

Dr. Bob and Susan Goldstein

Even before our company was founded, Dr. Bob and Susan Goldstein worked to improve the lives of our animal companions through their holistic and integrative veterinary practice. And for more than 40 years, Earth Animal has been committed to making the Earth a better place for the animals and people who share it.

That’s one of the main reasons that so many of our products – including our Natural Remedies, our Nature’s Protection Flea & Tick Prevention line, our popular Peanut Butter No-Hide® Wholesome Chew, our new line of plant-based chews and treats are all made with the power of plants. These plant-based products are all the perfect vehicles for our company’s mission of doing things another way – a better way.

According to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), reducing our use of animal proteins and consuming more plant-based products can help the planet in many ways, and it’s also the best way to curb global warming and the effects of climate change. That’s because the animal agriculture industry which resources our country’s meat consumption significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, destruction of wildlife habitat, and water pollution.

And it’s not just humans contributing to overall meat consumption: according to a 2017 study published in the scientific journal PLOS One, if dogs and cats in America made up their own country, they would rank fifth in terms of meat consumption, translating to the creation of roughly 64 tons of carbon dioxide a year. This is because most dogs and cats in the US are fed diets that include factory-farmed meat.

What can you do to help?

For pet parents wanting to lower their dog’s impact on the planet, reducing meat-based treats and chews and shifting to more plant-based products is a great place to start. This simple change can make a big difference for your beloved canine companion’s health, for factory farmed animals raised for dog food, and for the Earth. Our plant-based products, including the No-Meat No-Hide®, Plant-Based Better Biscuits, and Perfectly Plain Kelp Jerky, offer choice to dog parents where sustainability, the environment, and health are top priorities.

This is one of the reasons why we partnered with The Better Meat Company— one of the fastest-growing and highly respected B2B plant-based meat companies in the human food space— to take our first step in reducing our reliance on animal agriculture in our products. TBMC is a plant-based ingredients company that offers authentic and healthy meat-like experiences by using the power of plants for humans, and now they are working exclusively with us to do the same for dogs. Together, we’ve created sustainably sourced and simply delicious No-Meat Salmon Chews, No-Meat Beef Chews, and Plant-Based Better Biscuits with only the good stuff— no meat, no preservatives, and no artificial, synthetic, or hard-to-read ingredients.

Overall, adding more plant-based products can significantly impact the environment and your pup’s health for the better, and we’re proud to be a part of the solution. Our plant-based treats and chews offer a win-win for pups and the planet. Protecting our Earth and reducing your pup’s carbon pawprint has never been so delicious!
