Wisdom is formulated by Dr. Bob Goldstein, a holistic veterinarian with more than 45 years of experience and deep expertise in canine and feline nutrition. He co-founded Earth Animal in 1979 with his wife, Susan, guided by a belief that still defines everything we do: Heart + Science. Every recipe is crafted under their direct oversight, from ingredient selection to production in our own Riverstone Kitchen in Maryland, where our gentle air-drying process protects nutrients, supports digestibility, and preserves the integrity of real food. Because Wisdom is made from real food. And real food doesn’t come off an assembly line looking identical every time. That kind of perfect uniformity usually comes from heavy processing, artificial colors, fillers, or manufacturing designed to make food look the same, rather than be the same in quality. That’s not how we make Wisdom. Wisdom is crafted from real muscle meat, nutrient-rich organs, and whole ingredients, then gently air-dried in our own kitchen. So yes, natural variation can happen. And in our view, that’s not a flaw. It’s part of the integrity of real food. What you may notice: Color may vary. Different proteins, organs, fruits, vegetables, and grains all carry their own natural pigments. Seasonal and agricultural variation can also subtly influence appearance. We don’t use artificial colors to force sameness from batch to batch. Size and shape may vary. Wisdom is air-dried, not extruded into perfectly uniform pellets. That means pieces may differ slightly in size, edge, or shape. Real ingredients and a gentler process create a more natural result. Texture may vary slightly. Because moisture levels in whole ingredients can vary naturally, one batch may feel a bit firmer or softer than another. That’s normal in a minimally processed food made from real ingredients. What never changes: Our standards. Every batch is still made to the same nutritional targets and the same uncompromising sourcing and manufacturing expectations. That means every bag still delivers:
