What we stand for
At Earth Animal, sustainability isn't a marketing initiative; it's been at the heart of our company since the beginning. We hold ourselves to high standards for animals, people, and the planet.
We back up our words with real commitments: third-party certifications, public reporting, and standards you can hold us to. This page outlines what we promise. To see what we've accomplished, visit Our Impact page
Certified B Corporation™
Becoming a Certified B Corp in 2021 felt like a natural extension of who we are. It gives us a clear framework to measure what matters: how we care for animals, support our people and communities, and reduce our environmental impact. It keeps us accountable and helps guide our progress.
We re-certified in June 2025 with a score of 86.3, up from 80.3 in 2022. That progress reflects the work of our team and the partners who hold us to the standards we set.
Public Benefit Corporation
In 2021, Earth Animal became a Public Benefit Corporation. This means we now have a legal obligation to consider the interests of animals, people, and the planet in every business decision we make, not just the interests of shareholders. It means our values aren't just written on a page, they're written into how we're governed.
Food Safety & Testing
Our Riverstone Kitchen, where Wisdom Air-Dried Dog Food and Jerky is made, is certified to Safe Quality Food (SQF) Edition 9 for Pet Food Manufacturing, one of the most rigorous food safety standards in the world. Every lot of Wisdom Air-Dried Dog Food is tested for salmonella, with results published on our website.
The same standard of scrutiny extends to our manufacturing partners. Whether we own the facility, hold a share in it, or work with an external partner, we hold every production site to equivalent safety, testing, and traceability requirements. Our Partner Code of Conduct sets out those expectations in full.
Animal Welfare
Every animal touched by our business deserves our attention.
We believe all animals deserve to live a good life, both the animals in our families and those born and raised to make our pet foods and products. That tension isn't lost on us. It's why we created the pet industry's first Animal Welfare Framework, and why we hold ourselves to standards we publish and measure openly.
Animal welfare science shows that true wellbeing goes beyond nutrition, environment, health, and behavior. It must also include an animal's mental state. We look for care that supports more positive than negative experiences throughout an animal's life. That principle guides how we source every animal-based ingredient.
Sourcing Commitments
Our product recipes are made with:
-
Global Animal Partnership (G.A.P.) Certified Poultry
G.A.P. is a third-party certification program with tiered welfare standards. Our chicken is G.A.P. Step 3 Certified and our turkey is G.A.P. Step 1 Certified, meaning enriched environments, more space, and better living conditions.
-
Ocean Wise & Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Certified Seafood
Our wild-caught fish comes from sustainable fisheries certified by Ocean Wise and MSC, protecting ocean ecosystems while meeting our quality standards.
-
Grass-Fed & Pasture-Raised Proteins
Our venison, beef, and bison come from animals raised on pasture, free to graze and move naturally.
-
Cage-Free Eggs
All eggs used in our products come from cage-free hens.
-
Our Commitment to better chicken
We've signed the Better Chicken Commitment and are working toward full compliance across all products by 2027. Read our Better Chicken Commitment progress report →
"We believe that all animals deserve to live a good life, and therefore we have a fundamental responsibility to protect and advocate for the animals in our families and those that are born, raised, and slaughtered for our pet foods."
