In 2015, we set the pace for digestibility testing on rawhide alternatives with our longstanding partner Dr. Tim Bowser, a food scientist and leading expert in digestibility. Dr. Bowser is now an industry leader in digestibility testing in the rawhide alternative chew space, using learnings at Earth Animal to help create safer chews at other companies. Our testing protocols:
We use a 24-hour in-vitro test to understand total digestibility in the stomach (6 hours) and intestine (18 hours). Gastric and intestinal juices are used to mimic the dog’s GI tract. Scores are based on degradation “digestion” of the product.
We annually benchmark our product for digestibility against rawhide and our key competitors to ensure our stringent safety guidelines are met.

My dog got into the bag of no hide bones and chewed up/consumed the oxygen absorber in there, which is the one that contains iron (toxic for dogs). Would be great if the brand chose an oxygen absorber that doesn’t put your dog in the emergency room – as there are other options.

My dogs love these salmon chews. While my Cocker Spaniel only needs about 30 minutes to eat the large one, my Miniature Pinscher takes her time and she enjoys the salmon stixs. Even my cats like them but they play with the stixs before they actually eat them.

He ends up hoarding them all over the house and will even stop mid-play to chew if he catches a glimpse of it out of the corner of his eye. Life saver! For our power chewer pup with a sensitive tummy, this salmon no-hide stick and some dental chews are the only chews that lasts 10-20 mins that too when placed in a kong toy! Disappointed that the big 90 ct plastic-free cardboard pack is not available on your website or in pet stores,

These are one of the BEST chews we have tried!! They last a long time and sometimes our Boston likes to carry it around and not even chew on it! It’s so great to see a chew that’s available in other protein sources other than beef or chicken. We are going to try the venison as well. Compared to other chews, these are competitively priced considering the quality ingredients. Definitely recommend for any dog that just loves to have something to chew on that’s a healthy option.

My 14lb pug mix LOVES these chews! She only chews on items that she can eat, so any chew toys I got her are left untouched, and most of the treats I found rarely lasted longer than 30mins and sometimes upset her stomach. These chews are long lasting and she has no issues with runny, or funny coloured, stool after. This is the only treat that she begs to carry out of the store and does not drop it until she reaches her bed (where she chews on it). She goes crazy for these chews, and I love buying them for her knowing they are a great healthy, digestible treat! Worth every penny!!

My dog recently died from swallowing part of one of these. Instead of being digested, it expanded in her intestines, causing an obstruction, and killing her. I had an autopsy done and it is what was removed from her. I also put one in a bowl of water for THREE WEEKS and it still did not break down. After three weeks it was still unbreskable, exactly like rawhide. These “No-Hide” sticks ARE rawhide, so your claims that they are not are false and misleading. My German Shepherd dog has a sensitive stomach. These treats are great and I love the fact they are easy to digest! I bought these in CA while visiting my parents. My 9 week Boerboel pup has insatiable chewy times for about 1-2 hours twice a day. I had been giving him frozen marrow bones from the butcher shop but wanted to limit them to once per day. That left me with a chewy time void to fill – my guy didn’t care much for his toys or nylabones and I wanted to stay away from anything overly processed or dangerous. I have a French Bulldog named Otto. He is my best friend and I love rewarding him. I found this wonderful product at Petz Place Dog Food in Goodyear AZ. Otto is still a puppy and he loves loves loves the Salmon Chews! Now, to be honest I am not a fan of seafood I don’t like the smell of seafood nor do I like looking at it. (What we won’t do for our dogs?) This product has no strong odor. Otto loves the taste of the Salmon Chews and the nice thing is he still enjoys the treat when all the Salmon flavor is gone and just the hide part of the treat is left.
